This weekend has seen many members participate in the Club Championships for both men and women, playing 18 holes on both Saturday and Sunday.
The course had been set up by the green staff to ensure a real challenge to players of all abilities. Pins were tucked away behind bunkers, green running quickly and ensured any wayward putts left you with a tricky recovery.
To all who participated, many thanks for making it a special occasion in our sporting calendar and especially to those who stayed on to watch the groups come in and results emerge.
The full results can be found on the Members Hub app. and a truncated version in the Document Store includes those who succeeded in scoring a 2.
Included in this are a few photographs of the winners.
Good luck for next year.
Congratulations to Alex, who retained his position as the club's Champion Golfer for another year. he scored 74 & 76 (gross) once again demonstrating that consistency is rewarded.
Ben had rounds of 96 and 81 (gross), the round on the second day being the best nett score of the weekend an astounding 61! If ever there was a lesson to be learned it is that a significant charge on Day 2 may, and has produced results.
A great score Ben and he receives his trophy from the Club Captain Mr Andrew Raistrick.
Two good rounds of 79 and 84 (gross) ensured that Jeannie Williams became this years winner of the Tailby Trophy, retaining last year's title of Ladies Champion Golfer. She looks a little surprised about something, it won't be her golf so I presume someone made a humorous comment.
Congratulations and she receives the trophy from the Club Captain Mr Andrew Raistrick.
Ros Fenney scored 88 & 92 (gross) once again showing what a dangerous golfer she is off her handicap index and proving the the Club Chair can be a talented golfer.
She receives her trophy from the Club Captain Mr Andrew Raistrick, congratulations Ros.
The Club Championships Runner-Up was Gary Eckersley, who scored gross 75 and 79 (gross). With only a single shot separating 1st and 2nd places after Day 1 Gary kept the pressure on and made Alex work for the title.
Gary was extremely pleased with his performance and commented on his impending significant birthday. Well done young man.
The Runner-Up in the Nett competition was Tony Harrison. Tony scored 90 (gross) on Day 1 and then made a charge on Day 2 with a great score of 79 (Gross), Nett 63. Most years that would have been enough to secure the shield, but Ben's performance denied him, well done a wonderful round of golf.
